Happy Boxing Hockey Pool Day 11 Recap

After the clock struck 12:00am this morning, time to say good bye Christmas Day and hello Boxing Day. Today I didn't wake up until 11:00am. Oh well it didn't really matter much anyways. I went on the computer to check on the score between New England and Buffalo. By then, the Patriots were leading 17-3. I then went to do the laundry before watching some more of the games. Boy, the Buffalo Bills had way too many turnovers today, they had 7. I remember when Jim Mora ranted about the Colts poor performance with 5 turnovers, he should be glad that the Bills had 7 today ha ha!

New England will win by a score of 34-3. After the game, I grabbed my laptop down, grabbed a bowl of Rice Congee to eat, while watching the World Juniors game. Canada vs Russia already in Buffalo New York. The place seemed to be like a home game for Canada with many Canadian supporters there. Russia did strike first on the one timer. Though Canada answered back on the powerplay to even the score. As what we Canadians viewed, Russia's mediocre defense really killed them today. They couldn't get out of their own zone, while Canada kept pouring it on but the score remained 1-1 after the first period.

In the second period, Canada took the lead when the puck bounced off the Russian netminder's skate and in. Though the lead was short lived, Canada had a bad change and the Russians were able to sneak one by past Oliver Roy for a 2-2 tie. Canada in about 4 minutes later took the lead once again off a slapshot from the point to lead 3-2. But when the Russians were given a powerplay, a mad scramble in front of the Canadian net resulted in a goal which tied the game at 3, heading to the 3rd.

The 3rd period was all Canada. When a powerplay was given to the Canadians because of a tripping call, Canada scored again to make it 4-3 off a partial scramble in front of the net. Another powerplay was given to Canada not long after. This time Canada scores once again to make it 5-3. Before the game ended, Canada scores right off the faceoff to lead and win 6-3.

After the game, I went to play some NHL 11 before the Canucks game at 6. Though I didn't watch the first period because I was following other NHL scores for my hockey pool. It didn't go so well for me today. Only got 3 points for both of my pools while my opponent made a good late run, but wasn't enough to beat me. I prevailed 8-5 and 10-5 for both of my pool. Second time this year in which I won both matchup for the week. Though I cannot afford to buy a goal which sucks because my opponents gets so many goals every time while I keep getting pointless assist.

When the second period started, I started watching the game. Vancouver had so many good opportunities to score, but nobody could convert on it. Soon Edmonton struck first off a rebound by Cory Schneider. I wasn't too pleased about it. The Oilers struck again on a 2 on 1 by Ryan Whitney which pissed the hell out of me. Though Jeff Tambelini was able to answer back to to pull within a goal heading to the 3rd.

In the 3rd period, Vancouver dominated most part of the game. Mikael Samuelsson took a beautiful perfect pass from Raffes Torres to tie the game 2-2. Vancouver kept coming with attacks and attacks but was held off. Though Edmonton did have one great scoring chance, but nobody was able to take advantage of it. Late in the game, Tambelini tipped in a shot from the point which apparently should have given Vancouver a 3-2 lead, but the goal was called off because of a high-stick. I was pretty darn happy when the puck went in, but was absolutely disgusted to have the goal waived off. Some guy from the crowd threw some stuff on the ice in which as a Canucks fan, I was disgusted to see. With one minute left, the Sedins pressed in the Oilers zone until Kevin Bieksa scored from the point with 24 seconds left to give the Canucks a 3-2 lead I was going wild after the goal. That proved to be the game winner.

After the game, I went back to my computer and started talking to friends before showering. Tomorrow is a start of a brand new week, also the countdown of days begins, for new years!

Recognition: Hey Alvin, hope you had fun at the game today! You brought us a win! Yay!! And thanks for beating the guy I beat last week, by a score of 11-1. Keep it up, until you play me!!
