College Year 3: Week 4

Well, week 4 this week for school just ended! My oh my it felt like yesterday when class just started again! Time really runs by so quickly when you're really enjoying it! I guess it makes sense! I think I have just enjoy what I do then time will run down so fast!!

Anyways, this week in English 1129, we continued to look at Carol Ann Duffy's poem, for like 1 class that was on Monday. He cancelled class for Tuesday and Wednesday for some unknown reason, probably due to sickness. Today in class, we got into our groups and was assigned another group's poem to ask questions about!!

In our Late Medieval History 1123 class, this week we finished off with the last crusade and its effect on Europe in general and today we talked about Pope, Emperors and god. As well as the church who had more power. Pope can either reject or allow the ruler to become emperor since it had the right to decide!


Last but not least, in my Europe in a Revolution Age, we talked about the rise and fall of Napoleon Bonaparte. Talked about the Congress of Vienna and the harmony in Europe afterwards!! I believed I have learned about this in my 19th century Russian history but whatever!

College Year 3: Week 3

Sorry I have not been blogging for the past couple of days. The reason is because I have decided to do a weekly blog on my school week! Rather than having to blog daily I think blogging for the week is much easier and convenient.

Well this week for school. In English 1127 we started reading Sharon Old's poems. Her poems mostly included things that involves sexual interactions and deaths. We analyzed and discussed quite a few of them. While today we were in our groups to discuss the poem that we would be doing. As stated in a couple of post back, our group went to do Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas.

In History 1123, this week we began looking at the crusades and how they pretty much cause problems with Christianity and Europe itself.


In History 1124, we continued on with the French revolution and the execution of King Louie XVI. As well as the entire French nation standing up together to fight foreign invasion who tried to bring back Louie XVI to power.

College Year 3: Day 7

Well, second week of school just finished for me as its Thursday today. I woke up right at 8:00am as usual. Had to get dressed and ate breakfast. This time its finally Macaroni, been waiting for this for a while now!!

I relaxed until 9:10am before taking my trip to school which I arrived at 10:00am. Of course there is nothing really to do so I just sat in my classroom until class begins 30 minutes later.

In class, we did nothing really except grouping ourselves together for the poetry group presentation. We decided to go with Dylan Thomas and Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night poem. Yes I remember this poem completely because I have written an essay on it!

After class, I went to the cafe to hang out with a few friends before I go for my final class of History. This will be our last class with the sub prof. I didn't really take any notes this class as said before because he doesn't follow our instructor notes but rather his own approach and own notes.

After class, I journeyed to Richmond Centre to meet up with my mom before we had High Tea at a cafe. I ordered just a fish ball noodle soup because I wanted to keep it simple. We later picked up my sister and went home and I spend the rest of the day relaxing.

College Year 3: Day 6

The middle of the week is always the best as you've just realized that you have one more day of class after today before you get your 3 day weekend! Well after a resourceful Tuesday, I woke up at 8:00am today as usual. While my mom and sister already left the house I had to go to school by myself!

I had pre-made noodles but my mom already cooked it for me all I had to do was add water and that was it. I ate and relaxed until about 9:10am when I decide to leave the house. The bus didn't arrive until 9:28am but it is always a good challenge for me based on how much time I have left before class start for me. I arrived to school by 10:00am and went straight for class and waited until class started.

In class today, we finished off reading Philip Larkin's poems thank goodness!! We also analyzed a few more other poems such as Toad Revisited. This time I didn't really write anything down because we don't need to.

After class, I went to the cafe to hang out with my friends for the entire 3 hour break I have. We pretty much just played cards for the entire time. Big 2 and Crazy 8s. It was fun and the 3 hour kill time was quite easy than before!

In class today, we finished the lecture on enlightenment. We also talked about women's rights and how they were considered inferior to men because they aren't physically strong as men. Also talked about colonies and the 7 years war with the US and Britain and the American colonies. Eventually Britain would lose and abandoned all of their colonies plan.

After class, I went home, relaxed and ate dinner later on. Time to sleep now!

College Year 3: Day 5

Well today is officially the day! Yes I woke up dead on at 8:00am. NHL 13 release day is today too so I was very excited. Although they also shared the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attack that took place on September 11th, 2001. Its a day to remember all the victims in New York!!

I had rice for breakfast as my dad has a day off today. Guess I didn't eat too much because I'm sick of rice during mornings! I left the house with my mom at 9:30am and she can only drive me to the skytrain station.

I got to school by 9:55am and hung around for a little while before going to my English class. In English today, we continued to look at more poems by Philip Larkins and analyze them as usual.

After class, I went to the cafe to hang out with a few friends for a little while before heading to my history class. Our main instructor was at a meeting today so we had another guy coming in. I took notes for a little while but eventually I stopped and just listened to him talk and talk!

After class, you know what that means. Yes I went straight to lansdowne Best Buy to buy my NHL 13. I was shocked that they were out of stock when I went there but there was Futureshop still in the mall. Luckily for me there was the last copy for $59.99.

I went home to set up the whole game without really playing the game at all but its what I do every time on Day 1. Later on I went to chill with two friends at Ikea and I also happened to lend my NHL 13 game to him but will get it back tomorrow!!

College Year 3: Day 4

A brand new week just unfolded today! This morning I don't know if it was the wind that woke me up but I was able to wake up right on time. I guess it happens when I'm like half sleep and half waking up. I had noodles this morning with hot sauce as usual! I can't survive to eat without hot and spicy sauce.

Since I can get a ride from my mom, I was able to relax for a bit longer at home first until 9:30am before she drove me to school!! I arrived to school by 9:45am and hung out with a few friends before 10:30am when class actually started.

In class today, we continued to look at poems that we were suppose to read and as usual analyzed them. It was funny that we had to do seating plans half-way through the class.

After class I had a 3 hour break so I went to the cafe to hang out with my buddies for the entire 3 hours. We played cards, ate and charged phones and laptops as well!!

By 2:30pm, my class starts. We had a lecture pretty much all about the enlightenment and science in earlier Europe. Many theories were discussed, couldn't remember what they were. Many philosophers were also discussed too.

After class I went home, and pretty much just relaxed and read some of my poetry stuff and that was pretty much it! NHL 13 tomorrow!! Time to sleep!

College Year 3: Day 3

The last day of class for this week has finally ended!! When I picked my classes, I had my schedule to not go towards a Friday meaning I only have 4 days of classes a week!!

I still felt tired after waking up this morning but what can you do eh? "Suck it up!!" Quote by Captain Ma. Yesterday I said I didn't have rice but today I actually did!! Unbelievable!!

After breakfast, I took off for school. Even though I delayed for about 10 minutes before leaving the house I still managed to get there by 10:00am. But hey that's what I've been good with, so it is more of a routine for me.

In class today, we continued to look more into other poems. We even had a brief discussion about love poems and what would be on a love poem. I stated that love poem would include comparison between two things, compliments and other soft and calm descriptive words.

After class, I went to the bookstore to buy my English poetry textbook!! I really hate the fact that all my class's textbooks are so damn pricey for this semester and to make matters worse, they all use a new book, meaning there won't be a cheaper book for it!!

I still had time while I came out of the bookstore so I went to the cafe to hang out with a few friends before heading into class at 12:30pm.

In History today, we talked about how the survival of Christians began, and the importance of the relics and Pilgrimage activities. Also talked about the Truce of God which restricts conflicts among people on a certain time. By doing this, the chance of conflicts would be reduced according to our instructor.

After class, I got a ride from my mom, but we picked up her friend first to go to ICBC and she made me do translation. That took nearly an hour before we head to McDonalds to eat. So therefore dinner had to be at 7 after.

College Year 3: Day 2

Well, one day has passed since school began. This morning was quite distracting only because I still felt a bit tired after waking up at 8:00am. It really feels different waking up for school than waking up for work!

Had bun instead of rice for breakfast, thank goodness!! Since I was being slow today with preparing for school, I basically was staling bit by bit before proceeding.

I left the house at 9:00am as usual and arrived to school by 9:55am, which I don't know why and how I was able to get there a good  20 minutes before class starts.

I was like the first one in the classroom with all the lights closed. Had to wait take my cellphones away before my instructor came, due to the consequences threat he made yesterday.

In English class today, we analyzed new poems today, with the Hardware poem which talks about the death of the speaker's father and what he taught him in the past. Also looked at the other poem by Shakespeare. Not much really happened for us after.

After class I hung out in the cafe for 3 hours with friends before heading into my History class at 2:30pm. Too long of a break can be really annoying I find.

In History today, we introduced the course, although I've had this instructor for the 5th consecutive semester now!! Since it is a first year class, as expected, 2 essays, one midterm and one final exam!! We spend rest of the class lecturing on the early 1600s and 1700s of the Great European Powers, France Britain Austria Russia and Austria.

After class I walked to the Canada-Line station with a friend and then went home to relax and enjoy the rest of my day!! Time to sleep soon!

College Year 3: Day 1

Well, its officially a brand new year to begin although 2012 hasn't end yet but the 2013 year for school and everything else began. I guess this means first day of school for most people including myself!! Waking up at 8:00am now feels very weird rather than for work.

Had Macaroni first thing in the morning and then packed for school!! I was fortunate enough to not have to bus to the Skytrain station so I had more time to prepare and relax. Eventually I got to school by 9:55am and had to find my first classroom.

Quite frankly, that classroom I was in for my second semester for Chinese 1215 and this class would be English 1129, which involves lots of poetry, novels and short stories. We begin class doing some imaginations of what a poet would look like through usage of descriptive words and then later we read a poem by Philip Larkin. It feels awkward repeatedly saying, "They fuck you up, your mum and dad" people outside probably wondering what the hell was going on inside the classroom.

Well later on we did look over the course outline. Cellphone is such a big deal in class, in fact all electronic devices are illegal apparently. If get caught using em, humiliating consequence would occur to that individual, where I cannot take him seriously when he said he'll make anyone strip naked in front of the class and dance.

After class I went to the cafe and met up with a few friends we chilled for a little while before I had to go to class at 12:30pm.

This time was History 1123. From the voice of my instructor, I can tell he was British before he actually told us. We looked at the course outline and he also introduced himself quite a bit and later we had a small lecture based on previous course stuff.

After class I went home, did some readings and relaxed for the day!

2012 Year Review

Okay Well, today marked the last day for the 2011-2012 year for many people, because you know what? Tomorrow begins a new chapter of another year. But for this blog post it will be a review of all the 2012 things that happened and judge them whether it was a good year or not. Lets begin with some personal life. School first, well lots of catching up to do in school this year, although many downs I was able to pull off decent marks, even though I think I did pretty bad. So I got lucky there!! Overall I'll give it a C+ grade! Other things included work and my driving test. Ha! Work was really fun! Had fun working with my co-workers and my forepersons!! Started to really get to know my co-workers a lot more!!! And my driving test, well didn't take the first test due to sick but was able to pass the second time!!! Soo A right there!! Now time for some Yahoo Fantasy Hockey. After coming as champion for the second consecutive time, I had high expectations for myself this season. Although I finished with the greatest record in the regular season, I fell short in the Semi final to the eventual league championship but finished 3rd, massively destroyed Team thething. In my VCanucks2012 league, I also finished 1st with the best record but after a really hard fought Semi Final week, I fell short to the eventual league champion but also finishing 3rd. So I can't say it was a bad year so I'll give it a B right there Well time for some sports, the Vancouver Canucks first. After the bitter loss in 2011 to the Bruins, they looked for some revenge. They repeat as presidents trophy winners which I always opposed to, since day 1. Where they met the LA Kings in round 1 which they were defeated in 5 games, with Daniel Sedin out for 60% of the series. The Kings would eventually go on to win the cup! I give it a C- My Phoenix Suns, they were on rebuilding mode since 2011 I didn't have much expectations for them. They didn't make the playoffs which was expected, so I don't have much to say about them. Although during the playoffs I was hoping for Lebron to win his first championship which it did, so I'm happy for him! I'll give it a B for NBA Now the New England Patriots, the Patriots dominated the AFC with a 13-3 record, second behind to the Green Bay Packers and the Patriots made it to the Superbowl where they had to face the New York Giants. Same fate happened to the Patriots where they lost the game in the final minute. Which was utterly disappointing, as a result I'll give it a C+ Now for the BC Lions, they started off slow but eventually picked it up and dominated since then! 8 game winning streak going to the playoffs with the best defence and then became league champ over the Winnipeg blue bombers!! Great job Lions!! Grade: A More hockey, the World juniors. Team Canada with the new looks, played well until they the bitter rivals of Russia in the Semis where their epic miracles down 5 goals in the 3rd ended with a 6-5 loss, but they still took home the bronze over Finland and Sweden defeated the Russians 1-0, therefore it wasn't really that bad. Grade: B Now last but not least, the Euro 2012 cup. After a very disappointing 2008 performance and 2010 world cup, England seeks revenge. They topped Group D with a 2-0-1 record, beating Ukraine and Sweden and tying France. Where in the Quarter final they met Italy. A 0-0 game even after extra time means a PK where England has never been successful at all. I guess this explains everything where England lost 4-2 in PK. Although England lost, Germany and Portugal didn't do all that better, losing to Italy and Spain. Eventually Spain took on Italy and creamed them, 4-0. So its not really that bad. Grade: B Anyways, lets sum up the results, Sports overall grade: C+ and Life grade: C+ So overall 2012 has been a C+. Well I don't know how 2013 will do!! 2012 wasn't really that good but I guess its time to move on!
