Vancouver Celebration Of Light 2010, Team CHINA!!!!

As the month of July comes to an end, yesterday was the last day of the 2010 Celebration Of Light. I was forced awake yesterday morning at 8:30am, since my mom decided to take us to Dim Sum with a couple of her friends. Didn't eat much there anyways because the were foods weren't even that good.

As we exited the restaurant after, we drove to Oakridge Mall and went to Zellers. My sister and mother went to shop for their own desires, while I spend the entire 30 minutes at the sports section, ball handling a Tennis ball with a wooden Hockey stick.

Around 12pm, we left Oakridge Mall, went to 7-11 to purchase a drink of Slurpee and dropped my sister off at her friend's place. My mom dropped me home after and went out on her own.

I'd spend some time packing my belongings and then went to play some NHL 10, including an online game with a buddy. He was using the Vancouver Canucks ( What an ass!) while I used the Chicago Blackhawks. After a slow start, down 2-0 in the first period, I picked up my game in the second period by scoring a shorthanded goal to cut the deficient in half. In the third period, I scored another shorthanded goal to tie the game at 2. The game solved nothing in regulation so it went to OT. At the final minute, my goalie Antti Niemi made a game-saving stop and putted the game to a shootout. I would eventually beat him 2-0 in the shootout, because he couldn't play goalie.

I ate my dinner after that because I know I wouldn't be eating anything during and after the fireworks session. By 4:30pm, I left my house to catch the 430 bus to Vancouver. We were to meet at a friend at 6pm. I arrived early and waited for him to come home from work. By 6pm, a friend arrived but we had to wait for someone else to arrive. When everybody arrived, a friend drove us to Kitsilano Beach. Since it was the last day, finding a parking spot was absolutely difficult but we did find one in the end.

We settled down and about 30 minutes later, it started raining. We all thought it was the end, as we looked for shelter. We spend around 25 minutes waiting for the rain to stop. Once the rain stopped, everybody went back to the beach again.

Later, more friends joined us and we basically chilled until the fireworks began. A friend and I ditched the group for a while, since we're the only ones with cameras and wanted to record and take pictures of the fireworks. By 10pm, the fireworks began.

As expected, China had a strong start and their performance flowed pretty smoothly for the rest of the way. I was kneeling down to record. Boy, was my knee and my arm hurting. It's worth it, in my opinion. After the fireworks, we left for home.

Before we all get to go home, a friend of mine decided that he wanted to his "Girlfriend." My other friend, who was the driver suggested that she wouldn't give him a ride home if he wanted to go there. So, without saying anything she drove him there and he told her that he was just joking and urged her to turn back. She didn't listen and just went there. When we arrived, she urged him to get off the car. The entire process took about 35 minutes long because he kept resisting. It was pretty entertaining and we reacted by laughing every single bits of it.

After, we drove home and I slept around 2am.

Overall, it was a very fun day. I'll really miss it!
