Vancouver Canucks Season Opener Ruined 0-0-1

Well, today is Saturday. A weekend, hooray! I was able to sleep last night and woke up at 9:30 this morning. After getting dressed, I did the laundry, by washing my own clothes and then putting them inside the dryer machine. Also, today was Vancouver Canucks' opening ceremony.

I ate brunch just before friends came over at 12:30 to play NHL 11. I didn't go hard on them because they are beginners. I pretty much even the game level out, by playing as a goaltender.

They left my place by 5pm, right after my dad came home from work. Instead of cooking for dinner, my dad got free pizza from a friend and we ate pizza instead. I turned on to watch the Leafs game and they were up 2-0 by then. I watched the rest of the game and the Leafs won over the Ottawa Senators by a score of 5-1. Since 1999, the Leafs haven't won two straight opening games right when the season started.

By 7pm the Vancouver Canucks' 40th anniversary ceremony began. Also, Henrik Sedin was named captain of the team. He will be the 13th captain in Vancouver Canucks' history.

The game was somewhat fun to watch. In the first period, there was no scoring between the Canucks and the Kings. Though in the second period Christian Ehrhoff puts one home and the Vancouver Canucks take a 1-0 lead and going into the third period. Late in the game, Ryan Kesler took an interference penalty and the Kings' Justin Williams puts one by Roberto Luongo and the game was tied. In overtime, it was pretty much end to end actions with numerous scoring chances off the rush. Though when Bieksa took the interference penalty, Vancouver had to kill off a 4 on 3 powerplay. I was holding my breath when the Kings sets up in the offensive zone. Roberto Luongo has made some fantastic saves during the PK and eventually the Canucks was able to kill it off, so the game went into a shootout. Disastrous shootout, all I have to say. The Kings scored on both of their attempt and the Canucks missed on both of their attempts and the Kings won the game. Yes I was upset about the loss. But again, I'm upset about all kinds of loss. Since being a Canucks fan, I never really tolerated losing at all. Oh, and thanks to a friend who mentioned in his blog that I blamed Richard Loney. Yes I did blame him, though I tried not to blame him before the game. Though another factor might be that Vancouver never seem to be able to win a game at home, whenever there's a ceremony before a game. The only other time they have won is retiring Trevor Linden's jersey. A game in which they edged the Oilers by a score of 4-2.

After the game, I showered and then played Age Of Empire 3 with a friend. This time we were using cheats to fight one another. I totally smoked him with my Mediocre Canons. After the game, I read a friend's blog and then started blogging after I finished reading. Two rowdy fans tackling a mascot, what douchebags =P
