I cannot be more than happy to have watched the Vancouver Canucks steamrolled the Calgary Flames last night on a 7 -3 win performance. I had a few friends over to my place to watch that game. Henrik Sedin was the first star, finishing the game with 4 assist, Daniel Sedin was the second star scoring a Hat-trick and Kevin Bieksa the third star with two goals. Mind you that Daniel Sedin scored a goal that could of easily make the "Goal Of The Year" :
Before the game, Henrik Sedin was sitting at 108 points, one behind Alexander Ovechkin from the Washington Capitals. Henrik finished the game with four assist, earning him 112 points, that is three points ahead of Alexander Ovechkin. However, if there is a tie, the Art Ross Trophy will be given to the player that scored the most goals. In this case, Alexander Ovechkin would win if he and Henrik are tied in points. So technically, Henrik has a two point lead going into Sunday's game. The Canucks also finished their season with a promising 49-28-5 record.
The night after the game, many of my facebook friends including me decided to cheer for the Boston Bruins, just for the sake of Henrik's Art Ross Trophy lead.
I slept late, and woke up early today at 9 am to watch the game. Am I scared? Yes I am. I watched the first period, in which the game was tied 2-2. However Alexander Ovechkin has no points, which is a very good thing.
During the second period, I had to go to driving lesson, therefore I missed the rest of the game.
After driving lesson, I came home and one of my friends told me that Henrik is now the leading points champion! That was when I learned that Alexander Ovechkin has no points.
Later, I started spreading the news to everyone and everywhere. However I'm not the only one that was doing it. Many of my facebook friends were also doing it too.
Anyways, there were still some games left to play today. I was watching the Redwings-Blackhawks game, while following the Rangers-Flyers game. However I did not get a chance to finish watching the game, because my mom wanted to go out to eat.
My sister had her phone with her, so she texted her buddies and asked about the score. I was not impressed when L.A beat Colorado in overtime. However, Detroit beat Chicago in overtime as well. As a result, instead of playing Nashville in the first round of the playoffs, we're playing L.A instead. Though, to be honest I rather play Nashville, but L.A shouldn't be too bad =P
I also realized that the Philadelphia Flyers beat the New York Rangers in a shootout to capture the last playoff spot.
While I was having lunch, a friend of mine texted me just to tell me that Sidney Crosby already has four points. He needs eight points to tie Henrik for the Art Ross Trophy.
When I got home, Sidney Crosby already has five points on all five Pittsburgh Penguins goal. Everybody except one of my friend became restless with the situation. However, Crosby was held pointless for the rest of the game, in which we breath a sigh of relief.
Sidney Crosby and Steven Stamkos surpassed Alexander Ovechkin for most goals with 51 goals. Personally, I think if the New York Islanders didn't score to tie the game, Crosby would of won the Maurice Richard Trophy by scoring on the empty net. It's okay I would say, because the Maurice Richard Trophy can have multiple winners.
Another thing that I was glad to know was that, I won the championship in my yahoo hockey fantasy pool, beating my head to head opponent by a score of 8 - 3. I guess it's good to be proud, since my defeat from last year in the second round and in the 3rd place game.
At the end of the day, here is the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs Matchup :
