Vancouver Canucks Regular Season (October) Review

The Vancouver Canucks began their season in the month of October in 2013, as they brought in some new faces such as new head coach John Tortorella and new players, Mike Santorelli, Brad Richardson, and Yannick Weber. The Canucks finished the month of October with a shocking record of 9-5-1. I was totally surprised but happy how this month has gone. Typically, October has always been an average month for this team, but things change this year.

Although many injuries occurred, Alex Burrows was injured for a period of time before he came back, forward Jannick Hansen, Dale Weise and David Booth are all out due to injuries. It is still early however, but hopefully everyone comes back soon!

The Canucks have improved on the penalty kill by a mile this season so far under the new coaching system of John Tortorella. However, the powerplay has been extremely poor. I just believe the Canucks need to shoot the puck more on the PP and need a better way to entry. Quite honestly I am not a fan of the drop pass especially when they gain the zone. It is very frustrating to see the puck gets taken away right when the drop pass occurs in the offensive zone. But nonetheless it has been a good month, one thing I would like to see is the Canucks being able to beat good teams. Majority of the wins this month has been against teams with losing record.
