Hockey Week 29

Week 29 was suppose to be over 2 weeks ago, however I didn't go so I didn't count it. It has been two weeks of the Stanley Cup Playoff and I missed hockey because of it. Anyways, we finally got the chance to play this Friday. So on Friday, I woke up a bit tired, but I didn't want to go back to sleep as it was pretty late already. So I got working, doing regular chores such as vacuuming and mopping floor. Later, I ate breakfast while watching drama for a little while.

Later, I didn't do much except surf the net for a while. When it was 4:00pm, I left to go to a friend's place before hockey. While at his place, I watched drama with him just before we left for hockey. Hockey was kinda fun. I had two friends being goalies, but they weren't really elite players. That being said, my team prevailed by a score of 31-28.

After hockey, I got a ride home from a friend. I first had dinner before friends came over to play NHL. We played 2 on 1 first before another friend came. And then we played 2 on 2. I was being goalie. Which my team prevailed pretty much all the games. So later 2 friends left and I ended up playing 1 on 1 with another friend until 1:00am then he left and I went to shower before sleeping.

Vancouver Canucks 2010-2011 Stanley Cup Playoff Round 1 Recap

Alright, so my beloved Vancouver Canucks just finished their series against the hated Chicago Blackhawks in exciting fashion. The series took 7 games for the winner to be decided. This was also considered to be one of the most highly anticipated series to watch.

Vancouver started off the series very hot. Winning game 1 by a score of 2-0. Game 2 was a back and fourth game. With Vancouver scoring 2 goals before Chicago breaking through Luongo's shutout streak by Ben Smith's goal. Vancouver and Chicago will eventually trade two more goals but Vancouver end up on top, winning 4-3. With the series shifting back to Chicago with Vancouver up 2-0 series, Chicago scores the first goal, for the first time in this series. During the second period, Vancouver would eventually score two more goals to take a quick 2-1 lead. However, when Raffi Torres completely obliterated Brent Seabrook, all the controversy began whether he should get a suspension or not. The league decided not to suspend him. Vancouver will end up winning 3-2 and hold a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Just as you think the Blackhawks are totally out, they are not. Game 4 was a complete lopsided score with the Blackhawks winning 7-2. So when the series shift back to Vancouver for a fifth game, exact same result occurred. With Vancouver not showing up to play, the Blackhawks easily won 5-0. So a vicious game 6 back to Chicago will happen. This time Vancouver played very well, however they blew a lead 3-0 times and also the terrible officiating which favored the Hawks! Unfortunately, Vancouver will lose in overtime which resulted in a series tied 3-3. So after the game, Vancouver were on the verge of experiencing a major team collapse in franchise history.

So it all came down to one game, where winner takes all! I had friends over for this game, as well as game 2 earlier in the series. The Canucks were extremely physical which was great! Ryan Kesler sets up Alex Burrows for a 1-0 lead. This game, the refs were letting things go, which was alright because it's fair to both teams. Vancouver held on to that 1-0 lead until 1:59 left in the 3rd period, in which Blackhawk captain Johnathan Toews scores a shorthanded goal to tie the game. At that moment, it seems as if the world has just ended. Anyways, what was more interesting is that Alex Burrows took a penalty 22 seconds into overtime, which gave the blackhawks a chance to win the game and complete the series comeback. At that moment, I was utterly shitting on my pants! Not only did Burrows not score on that penalty shot, he turned the puck over which resulted in Toews' tying goal and now he took a penalty to screw his team over?? Totally unacceptable! But wait.....

After the penalty kill, the Canucks were playing 5 on 5 hockey again. When Chris Campoli's clearance was gloved by Burrows he took the puck to the middle of the Blackhawk zone and rifled the series winning goal against the Hawks! My house erupted as I gave high fives and hugged friends!! What a game! What a night! What a series!! Vancouver finally has exercised their demons!!!

Next series will begin tomorrow and against the Nashville Predators!! During the regulation, the Predators always scored the first goal and those games were always low scoring! Vancouver better not take them easy! They will need to play the same way they have been playing for the past two games!!

Hockey Pool Week 25 Final

Well, today marked the end of the 2011 NHL regular season, as well as my fantasy pool playoffs. All the playoffs matchups are set. Vancouver plays Chicago. Oh how rude of me, sorry I meant to say Shitcago. San Jose plays Los Angeles, Detroit plays Phoenix, and Anaheim plays Nashville. This is the western conference. In the east, Washington plays New York Rangers, Philadelphia plays Buffalo, Boston plays Montreal and Pittsburgh plays Tampa Bay. If you ask me, I prefer not to play the Blackhawks, but if Vancouver can beat them in a best of 7, that would be even better though the risk is very high, considering Vancouver was eliminated by Chicago twice in a row! Anyways, the series will start on Wednesday, 7:00pm pacific.

Now lets get back to my hockey pool final result. In the NHL league, I defended my title, as I won back to back championship. I prevailed by a score of 7-3. Despite to some key injuries, I still prevailed because he had lots of injuries as well. In the Canucks4thecup league, I fell by a score of 12-3 to an opponent whose team was build primarily of rip off trades, so I won't give him any credits for winning. Better luck next year for me!

Stanley cup playoff is just around the corner, time to focus on that and my exams!!

Hockey Week 28

Well, it's a Friday today! A very gorgeous day in fact. I woke up at 10:00am. I was really exhausted so I decided to wake up at a later time. After waking up, I spend one hour on the computer before dong house chores, which included the dish, vacuuming and mopping the floor.

After house chores I ate breakfast and was on the computer watching videos. Later, I started preparing for my English final exam's essay! Didn't get a whole lot done but it's a start. At 3:00pm, I went to a friend's house to play NHL 11. Later close to 5:00pm, I went to another friend's place to hang out before we went to hockey. We were watching some dramas that he had been following for some time now.

We went to hockey at 5:45pm and got there at 5:55pm. We just practiced for a while and then went more people showed up, I went to be a goalie. It was fun, considering I played quite well especially on the first half. Second half was more a trading goal game. Lots of scrambles, lots of big plays and saves. The game was however tied 14-14. After hockey, I went with my mom and sister to a Chinese cafe to have dinner. I had rice with tomatoes and seafood sauce with a lemonade.

After dinner, we went home. I immediately took a shower for body refreshment. It totally stink. More studying tomorrow!

College Hell Day 99, 100, 101

Well, on Tuesday and Wednesday I didn't blog only because I was really busy with my English research essay. Well, I finished everything at 3:30am in the morning. That being said, I have to thank a friend who stayed up until 3:15am to check over my work for me.

I woke up today at 9:00am feeling somewhat sleepy but was able to wake up. I had rice for breakfast and immediately afterwards I put on my Vancouver Canucks jersey and left for school. All the public transit arrived right on time so I was able to get to school at 10:50am. As usual, I hung around at the computer lab until 11:30am and went to English. All we did in English was hung out until our instructor came where we would hand in our essay and leave. Prediction: C-.

After, that I just basically hung out in the computer lab for 3 hours. One scenario involving a random guy asking me who to pick to win for NHL games today because he doesn't know which team to pick. I chose Montreal over Ottawa, New York over Atlanta, Vancouver over Minnesota and Dallas over Colorado.

By 2:10pm I went to my last class of the day, Chinese. It was presentation day, I really had fun watching our class doing presentation as there were many laughs on and off during the show!

After school, I bussed to Tecumseh elementary school to play football with a couple of friends. I suffered several cuts on my hands after falling trying to catch the football with the tip of my fingers. After football, we went to 7-11 to get a drink before heading back to Richmond. We went to A&W to eat. I didn't know they now give out cups for the drinks. First time! After we ate, a friend came over to play some NHL 11. It was fun, considering that all the games were one goal games. By 8:10pm, we decided to watch part of the Canucks game, by then they led 2-0. Vancouver then scored again to lead 3-0 and my friend would leave after. I then watched the rest of the game. Vancouver won it's last home game 5-0. Good job boys!

After the game I went to shower and start relaxing. Study tomorrow!

Hockey Pool Week 24 Recap

Its the end of another week, and which also meant that it's also the end of the semi final for my yahoo fantasy league!! Playoffs are tough for everybody but if one is a true champion, one will overcome any situations that comes in play!

In the NHL league, I played the 3rd seed team which I had trouble beating during the regular season, only because there is always a hero for him whenever I play him. This week was pretty much the same except he has more than one player who really produced for him. Forward Claude Giroux, Chris Stewart and Jerome Iginla were his star players for this week! His team pretty much kept pounding in terms of even strength points. However, many other categories he failed to capture. My Star players of the week were my goaltenders. Netminder Cam Ward, Antti Niemi and Tim Thomas combined for 6 wins and 0 loss. 5/6 goalie categories were captured by me. I also managed to capture the Powerplay points and shorthanded points category, which helped me to prevail by a score of 7-6. It was really tough, but I proved my theory once again. Padding up stats and leaving others uncaptured is dangerous to a success of a team! So, on to the final I go! My next opponent will be a 4th place team that I had close matchups with during the regular season. I however will not underestimate him, because he still has a solid team! It's time to defend my title! God will be on my side!! Have hope, believe in your players!!

In the canucks4thecup league, I played the first seed team, while ranking 4th and after beating the 5th seed team in the first round. This week was more like battle of california for our matchup, only because he has the Anaheim Ducks' top players while I have the San Jose Sharks'. However, this week is to my disadvantage, because his ducks played four times while my sharks only played twice. So that means my other players had to step it up and that's what they did! My goalies as usual stepped up since both hockey pool goalies were the same! Players like Nick Backstrom, Alex Semin, Phil Kessel, Patrik Elias and many others all contributed this week. I ended up prevailing by a score of 10-6 thanks to my players! Now I'm on to the finals! So both of my hockey pool fantasy team are in the finals!! Now I would be playing against the second seed team who I had a bit of success in the regular season against. Again, I will not underestimate him, now that he has acquired players like Joe Thornton, Joe Pavelski and Alex Tanguay, through lopsided trade. It's time to put an end to his madness!! God will be on my side!! Just have to do it one more time!!

Hockey Week 27

It's a gloomy Friday, mainly because it was raining all day and dark. I woke up at 9:00am due to the Friday morning effect that couldn't keep me from sleeping. So I went on the computer for a while before eating.

After breakfast, I spend the next few hours looking at courses, because my course registration was at 12:00pm today. So at 12:00pm, that was what I did. I ended up registering Latin American Studies and Geography.

Later, I worked on a video until 3:00pm and went to a friend's house. I first went to the library to drop off a book that a friend lend to me and then I walked to his house. We played some NHL 11 and later watched part of the Blue Jays. My friend also registered for some classes for SFU before heading to hockey. Later, Captain came as well and we went to hockey.

In hockey, I was a goalie along with another friend. First game, my team won by a score of 12-8. Second game was intense, my team fell short 24-22. It was alright, despite my ring finger getting a huge bruise.

After hockey, I went to MacDonalds with my mom and my sister. Later, I went home to shower, and played Mahjong. It was terrible for me! Later my sister's friends came over for a surprise cake, since it's my sister's birthday today. I went up here to blog!
